Abstract

The method of statistical energy analysis (SEA) has been used to predict the sound field in rooms containing noise sources. Because SEA takes into account the vibration modes both of the boundaries of the room and of the room itself together with the energy transport between them, the predictions of SEA are closer to measured results than those obtained by the statistical acoustical method (SAM) based on Sabine's theory. The validity of prediction by SEA is discussed.
