Abstract
Abstract In rotational moulding, due to bi-axial nature of mould rotation, there is a dearth of accurate and cost-effective thermal data measurement techniques and equipment. This necessitates reliable prediction of thickness for different temperatures and critical timings of the process like switching off the oven. Therefore, an attempt has been made to estimate the appropriate heating cycle time and thickness variation using process simulation. The thickness of polymer layer during intermediate temperatures and cycle time can be perceived from the simulation. It is also predicted that, a rotomoulded product of thickness 5mm requires an overall heating cycle time of 24.5minutes.
