Abstract

Incremental sheet forming is one of the promising forming process, where sheet metal parts are directly produced from CAD drawing by using three axis CNC milling machine or dedicated machine. The aim of this article is to study the effectiveness of finite element analysis in predicting forming forces in single point incremental process. Tool diameter was varied and simulated results in terms of forming force in axial direction, X-direction and Y-direction were determined. The obtained results compared with analytical results and are in good agreement, shows capability of finite element analysis in predicting forming forces in incremental sheet forming process.
