Abstract
A new analytical expression for the integral transmission function corresponding to the uniformly mixed atmospheric gases (CO 2, CO, N 2O, CH 4 and O 2) is proposed for use in solar radiation models. This expression is based on the latest spectral absorption data of the uniformly mixed gases, as well as on the Neckel and Labs ( Solar Phys. 90, 205–258, 1984) model, incorporating the most recent corrections of the extraterrestrial solar spectrum introduced by Wehrli (Publication no. 615, Physikalisch-Meteorologisches Observatorium and World Radiation Center, Davos-Dorf, 1985) and Vanhoosier et al. ( Proc. 8 th Workshop on Vacuum Ultraviolet Radiometric Calibration of Space Experiments, 1987; Astro. Left. Commun. 27, 163–168, 1988). The proposed method can be easily incorporated into solar radiation models to predict solar radiation on the Earth's surface.
