Abstract

This work presents a comparative study in predicting the vapor–liquid equilibrium (VLE) properties of a ternary feed, consisting of HI, H2O and I2, to the hydroiodic acid section of SI (sulfur-iodine) thermochemical cycle. Three binary interaction parameters sets are proposed for an activity-based NRTL (non-random two liquid) model and two equation of state models, namely SRK (Soave–Redlich–Kwong) and PR (Peng–Robinson). A comparative performance of these three VLE models is evaluated based on their single parameters set by using the available experimental data points.
