Abstract
In this study, an attempt is made to predict the outcome of Twenty20 cricket matches applying predictive discriminant analysis on pressure index. The classification functions of discriminant analysis are developed based on a training sample of 118 international Twenty20 matches and its validity has been tested on a holdout sample of another 73 matches. The cross-validation exercise yields a maximum of 90.7 percent and 78.4 percent correct classification in the training sample and holdout sample respectively. Finally, the findings of the proposed method are compared with other target rescheduling methods used for the purpose of match prediction.
