Abstract
Phaser measurement unit (PMU) is one of the key components in present wide area monitoring, protection, and control systems (wAMPAC). There are delays in PMU measurements due to the delay in PMU signal acquisition that may affect the performance of applications in real time in the grid. In this paper, in order to mitigate the effect of signal acquisition delays, a predicting model of PMU is proposed for estimating the phasor. This prediction model focuses on estimation of phasors which require faster response and low latency rates with respect to protection of power system. The algorithm is tested with different window filters at various sampling frequency rates and window lengths carried out for phasor estimation. It is seen that the simulation results give an accurate and lower signal acquisition delay incurred during phasor estimation.
