Abstract

This Study deals with mechanical and microstructural properties with pure aluminum and tungsten composite fabricated by powder compaction process. The scope of the research work is the production and characterization of Al matrix composites reinforced with WC ceramic nanoparticles. The synthesis process was powder metallurgy. Compacted specimens of Aluminum with varying tungsten carbide percentages and varying APS are tested using impact testing machine. Simulations for the impact tests were performed on composite specimens prior to actual fabrication and mechanical testing. Good correlation was observed between simulated specimens and fabricated specimens. Significant differences in the impact strength values were observed.
