Abstract

A simple method for reconcentration and separation of trace amounts of bismuth(III) in the presence of large amounts of silver(I) was established by filtration through a membrane filter loaded with hydrous lead dioxide (HLD), which adsorbed 5-10 μ g of bismuth(III). Bismuth(III) was not affected by the presence of 5-10 g of silver(I) at pH 1, because the adsorption of silver(I) on the HLD occurred at a pH above 2. This method is applicable to the determination of bismuth in high purity silver
