Abstract

The objective of this text is to construct an interpretative framework capable of being applied as a set of hypotheses to studies of race relations in Brazil. It presents twelve propositions that help determine the differentiating features of two types of prejudice and dynamics of racial situations in Brazilian society and US society. This aim in mind, it denominates the form in which these features are presented in Brazil as mark prejudice, and the way in which they are constituted in the United States as origin prejudice.
