Abstract

This paper discusses the development of a new hybrid state estimator (HSE) based on a Direct Non-Iterative State Estimation (DNSE). The DNSE method solves non-linear equations directly without iterations, which is fundamentally different from traditional iterative state estimation methods. A demonstration of the implemented DNSE system was carried out to validate the viability and performance of the method in processing live synchrophasor and SCADA data. The precommercial demonstration of the implemented DNSE was successfully conducted using live SCADA and synchrophasor data from the New York State power grid.
