Abstract

ABSTRACT Peak-aged Mg-6Sn, Mg-6Sn-3Al and Mg-6Sn-3Zn (wt.%) alloys have been characterised mechanically using micro-pillar compression and microstructurally using TEM. These alloys contain more than one type of precipitate. A modified Orowan equation is proposed to quantify the strengthening behaviour of the containing multiple precipitate types. The as-estimated values agree adequately with the experimental results.
