Abstract

In the solvent extraction method with quaternary ammonium salt, interaction between uranium(VI) complex anion and cobalt(III) complex cation has been studied. The distribution ratio D decreases with concentration of the total chloride. The decrease of D is larger in the presence of cobalt(III) complex chloride than in the presence of ammonium chloride or potassium chloride beyond a certain concentration of total chloride except in the sulfato complex system. Therefore, these results should be due to interaction between uranium (VI) complex anion and cobalt(III) complex cation and to the presence of ion associate consisting of uranium(VI) complex anion and cobalt(III) complex cation.
