Abstract

Measurements of prebreakdown current and charge flow in long positive point-plane gaps have shown a critical charge injection which is a function of time to peak of the voltage wave. With increasing time to peak, the pattern of current flow changes from a single large-amplitude pulse to a series of discrete pulses of lower amplitude but of similar duration.
