Abstract

This article suggests that one of the keys to preaching from the Gospel of Mark is recognizing that the story is about those who attend Christian worship each Sunday. Jesus' church is made up of would-be disciples, religious authorities, and unassuming saints. The author surveys three stories concerning the disciples, two on the authorities and two on the saints for implications as to how Mark would have us preach to each of these groups. Every listener has a potential follower, Pharisee, and true believer within them. Preachers need to understand and preach that we are the people in Jesus' story.
