Practitioners' experience in Telstra

Abstract

Abstract ‘Practice Forum' is intended to provide a forum for social work practitioners to share their practice with others; to describe what they are doing and assess its effectiveness. We extend an invitation to all social work practitioners to submit articles for ‘Practice Forum’ and we look forward to receiving your contribution. This article will share the authors' personal work experience within Telstra. It must be acknowledged that the authors are not identified in the organisational structure as industrial social work practitioners. However, the skills, competencies and knowledge that they utilise in their roles stem from their formal social work education and work experience. This paper demonstrates the value adding role that social work practitioners bring to Telstra and its employees. Recommendations have been made to assist with the future growth of social work practitioners in industry.
