Practical Workshop for Design Process of Mechanical Vibration with Actual Product

Abstract

It is very important for each engineer to learn design process in company. Even if the elements of technique is understood, it is difficult to apply the technique to design process. Design should put more emphasis on synthesizing than analyzing; so it is essential for each engineer to learn a synthesis method.For over two years, we have proposed a practical workshop at which we educate engineers a sequence of the design process for a mechanical vibration system of a typical product. The workshop consists of modeling the mechanical vibration system, and designing the optimum vibration system for the typical product. Moreover, teach-ing of the design process is efficiently carried out with simulations, experiments, and CAE.Many participants have acknowledged the following two points:i) They can understand easily vibration design processes, as actual design processes of the company products, such as industrial fans and refrigerators are used at the workshop.ii) By doing exercises in the theory and experiment combined with simulation, they can understand vibration phenomena of the products.
