Abstract

The purpose of this article is to answer questions related to the value of work in post-modern society. We answer questions about what good work is and what values are attributed to it, based on material elicited during anthropological fieldwork and interviews with employees of the Katowice Steelworks. We pose the above questions in the context of the labor crisis associated with the compromising of indicators that determine development, such as productivity and GDP. Having identified the value of labor, we present in the article the crises it is experiencing and possible directions for its transformation.
