Abstract

Objective: To compare the efficacy and safety of a 5% lidocaine patch with that of 200mg/d celecoxib in treating chronic axial low back pain (LBP). Design: Multicenter, open-label, parallel-group randomized, active-controlled, pilot study. Setting: Office-based practice. Participants: Adult patients (n=122) with LBP with or without radiation who had average daily pain intensity scores of ≥5 for at least 3 of the 5 days prior to baseline visit (measured by question 5 of the Brief Pain Index [BPI]).
