Abstract

Background and Aims: Peptidylprolyl isomerase A (PPIA), also known as cyclophilin A (CypA) is a ubiquitous proteins that belong to the immunophilins family. As a ligand of the Extracellular Matrix Metalloproteinase Inducer (EMMPRIN) (CD147) receptor, PPIA has been reported to play critical roles in inflammatory and therefore promotes development of atherosclerosisis. PPIA polymorphism rs6850 was reported to upregulae cyclophilin A expression and be associated with raised plasma cyclophilin A levels.
