Abstract
Newborns (n=72) were randomized into two groups, despite of the dose of lipid infusion. Group I (n=37) received 0.5 g/kg on the 1st day, 1.0 g/kg on the 2nd day, 1.5 g/kg on the 3rd day, 2.0 g/kg on the 4th day and 3.0 g/kg on the 5th day of life. Group II (n=35) received 1.5, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 g/kg of lipids respectively. Serum levels of triglycerides (TG) were measured at 24, 48 h and on the 5th day of life. Additionally we calculated the amount of parenteral calories obtained in both groups.
