Abstract
The paper presents a new approach to the problem of large-scale power system stabilisation using the dominant subsystem principle. Sufficient conditions are derived for system stabilisation using local decentralised controllers, guaranteeing the dynamic stability of the power system. A new concept is used to design an adaptive controller based on an oscillation measure. The proposed method is illustrated using an example of a synchronous machine connected to an infinite busbar.
