Abstract

The ability to create the Ka-band small-sized power combiner based on ultra-thin planar dielectric resonator is researched. The design of two-Gunn-diode power combiner of resonator type is proposed. It was found that the usage of ultrathin planar dielectric resonator excited on whispering gallery modes allows achieving the mutual synchronization of oscillations generated by two Gunn-diodes. This effect is accompanied by the power summation of several active elements and increasing the short-term frequency stability. The results of research of spectral and amplitude characteristics of the ultra-thin planar dielectric resonator are presented. They show that the high efficiency of electromagnetic coupling between the fields of operating whispering gallery modes in resonator and Gunn-diodes is provided. The schemes of the common and individual supply of the Gunn-diodes are considered. It's shown that the scheme of the individual supply allows increasing the summation coefficient and summed power of Gunn-diodes.
