Abstract

The matrix converter (MC) control methods for improving the power quality of MC input current under unbalanced and/or nonsinusoidal input voltage conditions on the base of input reactive power control method is developed. Different versions of setting of the direction of the current space vector with respect to the input voltage space vector have been considered. It is shown how the relationship between modulation of the direction of the input current space vector and direct reference and realization of its reactive component is set. The simulation showed the reliability and effectiveness of the proposed approach to improve the waveform of the MC input currents based on actual conditions and switching discrete formation of these currents.
