Abstract

With the continuous increase of the scale of the power system and the increasing uncertainty, mining the correlation characteristics of power grid nodes becomes increasingly essential. After the power grid fails, the voltage phasor trajectory is an important reference to reflect the impact of the bus. Based on this, we propose a bus clustering algorithm based on the voltage phasor trajectory. First, we extracted three dimensions of information for each bus: the trajectory’s length, curvature, and topological distance, and then expressed the weighted sum of the distances in the three dimensions as the similarity between the buses. Secondly, based on the similarity of trajectory, we propose an improved k-means algorithm to cluster the buses. Finally, we conduct fault simulation in the IEEE 39-bus system and perform similarity analysis and clustering analysis, respectively, to reveal the propagation characteristics of faults in power grid.
