Abstract

Voltage instability is often associated with power system blackout. In order to study the evolution mechanism of power failure and voltage instability in power failure, this paper proposes a new kind of power failure evolution model that considers voltage stability. The theory of static voltage stability analysis is introduced into the modelling. According to the simulation results of power failure in an IEEE39 system, the model proposed in this paper verifies the self-organized criticality of power network. It was also found that voltage instability lead to the increase of the frequency and scale of power failure. Furthermore, the frequency of load nodes in voltage instability accidents is calculated and the set of weak nodes is obtained.
