Abstract

Experiments were carried out using a simulation model to determine the effects of management variables and flooding time over a wide range of temperatures on the yield and quality of rice. The results indicated that field temperature influenced yield to a greater extent than nursery temperature. It was found that there was wide flexibility in transplanting date if the seedling age was appropriate. Level of nursery fertility had little effect on yield. Timing of flooding had severe effects on yield and quality of grain which was strongly related to decisions on transplanting time and seedling age.
