Abstract
AbstractVietnam has a vast potential for offshore wind power, which can play a key role in the country’s green transition. In addition to the fixed offshore wind turbine, the floating offshore wind turbines (FOWT) open up a great prospect for making the most of domestic supply chain resources. This paper presents the potential of the floating offshore wind turbines in Viet Nam offshore area. A 10 MW offshore wind turbine was selected for this study. Two floating platforms were proposed, those are semi-submersible and spar-type. Environmental condition based on Ninh Thuan offshore area. NREL FAST code and in-house codes of the University of Ulsan (UOU) were used for designing and simulating the floating offshore wind turbine systems. Loads and performances of FOWTs were analyzed. Transportation and installation plan for each type of FOWT was proposed and discussed.KeywordsFloating offshore wind turbineSemi-submersibleSpar10 MW wind turbine
