Abstract
Abstract 'Katahdin' potatoes were planted June 5, 1976, in Phelps gravelly silt loam soil at a spacing of 9 to 12 inches within the row. Individual plots were 2 rows wide, 40 ft in length with 34 inch row spacing and separated by 2 skip rows. A randomized complete block experimental design with 4 replications was used. Fertilization consisted of 1250 lbs/A of 12-24-12 NPK in 2, in-row side-bands at planting. Granular EPTC at 3.0 lb ai/Awas applied on May 28, 1976 for weed control. Mancozeb at 1.6 lb ai/A at weekly intervals was used for control of late blight. Foliar sprays were applied by tractor-mounted boom sprayer at 250 psi and 100 gal/A. Plots were not irrigated; rainfall (inches) during the growing period was: June (5.4), July (4.7), August (2.8), Total (12.9). Insect collection was by the D-vac vacuum collection method; samples were taken from 10, randomly-selected sites/plot, with 3 bounces/site.
