Abstract

Objective: To examine sex differences in functional outcome after traumatic brain injury (TBI) by operationalizing functional outcome as return to previous meaningful activity (work, school, housework, volunteering). Design: Observational cross-sectional. Setting: Research and training center for community integration of individuals with TBI within a medical setting in a large metropolitan area. Participants: 323 community dwellers with TBI (42.9% female), ranging in age from 18 to 51 years (mean ± SD, 36±9y).
