Abstract

Buildings are one of the major consumers of energy and resources. They also emit green house gases throughout their life. To overcome such disadvantages, sustainable construction techniques are used in the buildings, so to measure the effectiveness of such sustainable buildings many new certification techniques have evolved. In recent years the owners of these sustainable building are taking certification from certified agencies like GRIHA, IGBC and LEED to show the effectiveness of their buildings. These certificate acknowledges the performance of these buildings. Now a days there is a trend to adopt the sustainable building techniques to reduce the energy consumption, resources and operational costs required for maintaining the buildings.The objective of this study is to evaluate the actual operational performance of sustainability and green measures in residential buildings owned by private owners. In this study we are going to rate the buildings as per the suitable certification system and also compare the new evaluated ratings with previously awarded ratings. In this work we are going to check whether the sustainable building owners are updating their building performance as per the updated norms. We also aimto analyze the ground conditions of certified ‘Green Buildings’ in Pune region.The study is conducted especially for post construction performance evaluation of Green Buildings. This study is carried out by studying different manuals specifically GRIHA and selecting critical factors. For the purpose of data collection required for the study, a site survey will be done. Then the evaluated data and the data certified by GRIHA will be compared and final conclusion will be drawn.
