Abstract
A theoretical analysis is presented for the post-buckling behaviour of simply-supported orthotropic rectangular plates subjected to combined in-plane biaxial compression and edge shear. By a perturbation technique and selecting the perturbation parameter relating to the maximum deflection, the non-linear coupled partial differential equations are reduced to a system of uncoupled linear partial differential equations and are then solved by the double Fourier series method. Numerical results are obtained for glass-epoxy composite plates. The effects of aspect ratio, loading parameter on the post-buckling behaviour are illustrated graphically and discussed. The numerical results show good convergence of the present solution and are compared with the available data and in good agreement with them.
