Abstract

Possible origins of superconductivity in PrBa 2Cu 3O x crystals grown by traveling-solvent floating-zone (TSFZ) method were investigated by means of single crystal structure analyses and electrical resistivity measurements at ambient and high pressures. Evidence contradicting the expectations of the hybridization model was found and accurate structure analyses revealed significant differences in structural parameters between the TSFZ-grown superconducting and flux-grown insulating crystals.
