Ninety percent of all diabetics suffer from type 2 diabetes. In type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance initially generates increased pancreatic beta cell production of insulin, preventing hyperglycemia. Gradually, however, the beta cells begin to fail. The resulting reduction in insulin production, along with continuing insulin resistance, leads to hyperglycemia. …
