Abstract

A recently discovered QSO, NAB 0137--01, located in proximity to the high galactic latitude X-ray source 3U 0138--01 was observed using the Hard X-ray Experiment on the Astronomical Netherlands Satellite. A flux of 0.33plus-or- minus0.14 counts s$sup -1$ (1.3--7.0 keV) was detected, consistent with the intensity of 3U 0138--01. The error box for the X-ray source is thus reduced to 0.02 square degrees, greatly increasing the likelihood that the association of the X-ray source with the QSO is not accidental. The intrinsic luminosity of the QSO is about 2times10$sup 46$ ergs s$sup -1$, with an X-ray to optical luminosity ratio of 50. (AIP)
