Abstract

We investigate the behaviour of the upper critical field assuming the presence of two condensates with two different critical temperatures. Using a generalized Ginzburg-Landau free energy for the order parameter we show that there is an upward curvature in the upper critical field, which comes from the cross-coupling of the gradients of the order parameter. In addition we demonstrate that spatially homogeneous terms, which arise for systems that have less than cubic symmetry, do not change the picture. The behaviour found is in qualitative agreement with the experimental results for the various types of ceramic superconductors.
