Abstract

We find that CeCuSi 2 is a new relatively weak coherent Kondo-lattice compound with no magnetic or superconducting transition above 1.26 K. Measurements of the magnetic contribution to the electrical resistivity and static magnetic susceptibility of CeCuSi 2 are reported. According to the theory of Cornut and Coqblin, we suggest that the Ce in CeCuSi 2 may have a quartet ground state.
