Abstract

The questions concerning the choice of optimal therapeutic tactics in relation to patients with nodular thyroid formations remain a topical issue. The presented study is a possibility to objectify the strategy of surgical treatment of patients with nodular goiter based on ultrasound data and the results of fine needle aspiration puncture biopsy. Advantage of surgery, in our opinion, should be provided in cases of presence of eroded structure and irregular shape of the node on the ultrasound image, unclearly presented capsule and the presence of calcifications in combination with a suspicious result of fine needle aspiration puncture biopsy.
