Abstract

Objectives: The objective of the present study was to estimate the right dominant handgrip strength in different positions in randomly selected 180 Indian population aged 16-30 years from Amritsar, India.Methods: For this purpose, right dominant handgrip strength was measured in four different positions, like sitting right elbow flexion and extension and standing right elbow flexion and extension from all the subjects using Jamar dynamometer. Apart from these, height, weight and BMI were estimated for correlations.Results: In result it was found that handgrip strength with sitting right elbow flexion had the maximum mean value both in females and males. It was also found that handgrip strength with sitting right elbow extension had positive correlation only with BMI.Conclusion: The findings of the present study will be of immense importance in methodology study regarding the estimation of handgrip strength in different age groups.
