Abstract

IR absorption of BaTiO3 melt-grown single crystals shows very clearly the presence of hydroxyl impurities. Nevertheless, no OH centers could be identified by EPR. Possible reasons for the EPR inactivity may be the presence of trivalent cation impurities, or a very short lifetime of the VOH centers.
