Abstract

The crystal structure of rehydrated Ca-exchanged ptilolite has two cation sites each containing one-half of the Ca. One located in the twisted near-circular 8-rings is coordinated to six framework oxygens and two sorbed water molecules and the other exists as a fully hydrated complex (puckered pentagonal bipyramid) in the center of the large channels. The same correlation between T-O distances and T-O-T bond angles exists here as for previously reported ptilolite structures.
