Abstract

Pop-up ethnography (ethnographie ponctuelle) is a collection of ethnographic methods that can be used to capture social life at the register of spaces and times that do not belong to any particular social group or milieu. Pop-up ethnography is especially useful for studying urban public spaces, as well as time-limited events such as festivals or artistic interventions.
