Abstract

This article is the personal reflection of two caring science scholars’ journey of healing old wounds of childhood abuse with forgiveness, in a unitary caring science paradigm. Our competence as healers is proportional to our courage in exploring and acknowledging our own wounding and revisiting the validity of long held beliefs and prejudices (Giovannoni, 2017). Forgiveness is the capacity to hold sacred space and to rise above the ego divided self towards the light of unitary consciousness (Watson, 2005). From this perspective, forgiveness may replace the ego’s desire to judge with understanding, wisdom, compassion, and boundless love.
