Abstract

The category of polyphony, related to musical polyphony, was adapted to the fi eld of literary studiesby Mikhail Bakhtin who, analyzing the works of Fyodor Dostoyevsky, referred it to the genreof the novel. In this article, the author perceives polyphony broadly, and focus on the recognitionand description of related textual strategies and their functions not only in literature at differentlevels of its artistic organization but also in conceptual translation that takes into account parodyof style. The article shows the strategy of polyphonic transposition in the text „How would BolesławLeśmian write a poem Mary Had a Liitle Lamb in English” written by Marian Polak Chlabicz.
