Abstract
Partly purified enzyme preparations of diapausing pupae of P. brassicae showed NADP- or NAD-dependent activity with various sugars and polyols as substrates. Purification was carried out using (NH 4) 2SO 4 precipitation and chromatography on hydroxylapatite. The relative activities against various substrates remained approximately the same at various levels of purification. This observation and other kinetic data indicate that the various reactions are catalysed by the same polyol dehydrogenase.
