Abstract

1. A Grignard reagent is a catalyst for the slow polymerization of alkyl vinyl ethers. 2. Alkyl vinyl ether polymers of high molecular weight were prepared in presence of butylmagnesium bromide. The crystalline fractions of these polymers were isolated, and their x-ray diagrams were obtained. 3. A hypothesis is advanced concerning the cause of the low activity of a Grignard reagent as a catalyst in the polymerization of alkyl vinyl ethers.
