Abstract
Abstract The melt and physical properties of PVC compounds and articles are strongly influenced by the morphology of the PVC. PVC powder exists as various agglomerates [l-41 wherein the primary particles are bound together as “grains” which in turn may be collected and enveloped in a “skin” in the case of the most common, suspension polymerized, PVC. We will discuss the influence on and interaction with these various PVC structures and the polymeric additives classified as processing aids, impact modifiers, and surfacealtering agents.
