Abstract

AbstractAn evaluation on coating HMX crystals with three different polymeric binders using the “solvent slurry process” was conducted. Three polymers employed were: a thermoplastic copolymer [Kel‐F 3700], a thermoplastic elastomer [kraton‐G 1650] and a polyurethane [Impranil DLH]. Kel‐F 3700 presented an electrostatic hazard and was too insoluble for application by the slurry process. Kraton‐G 1650 presented a similar electrostatic hazard and its process yield was low. Impranil DLH produced a high yield using the batch slurry process.
