Abstract

The properties of light emitting diodes (LEDs) are the best choice for future lighting due to their superior energy efficiency. Also three-dimensional (3D) photonic crystal (PhC) structures have the great potential to improve their optical properties. We present promising technology for creating 3D PhC structures based on polymers which can be directly applied on the LED chip. For the fabrication of 3D structures, we used direct laser writing (DLW) lithography. The structures were filled and covered with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) for creating the thin polymer membrane with 3D PhC. Prepared structures were experimentally investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and optical microscope. The effect of 3D PhC on radiation pattern modification was investigated by goniophotometer measurements.
