Abstract

High dielectric constant and low dielectric loss are the target researchers strive to achieve simultaneously. In this work, BaTiO3 and nickel nanowires (NiNWs) were dispersed in polyimide (PI) by solution blending and magnetic field orientation. The NiNWs interspersed between BaTiO3 and insulating PI matrix provide polarization centers and heterojunctions, which can effectively improve the dielectric constant and inhibit the generation of conductive paths. In addition, this work also investigated the effect of magnetic field induced NiNWs orientation, such as parallel orientation and vertical orientation, on the dielectric properties. It was suggested that vertical orientated NiNWs could increase dielectric constant and suppress dielectric loss due to the vertical oriented NiNWs.
